We are a vibrant, program sized urban parish that is open and affirming. The candidate will possess advanced organ playing skills, strong hymn and service music playing ability, choral conducting skills, experience with handbells and leadership skills. You will be directing our Chancel and Handbell choirs. The candidate will be part of our dynamic ministry team. Our growing congregation appreciates music, and we are a singing church.  Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lancaster PA, is seeking a skilled and passionate individual to serve as Organist and Choirmaster for our Lutheran congregation within the Susquehanna Synod. The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing our worship experience through their musical talents, leadership abilities, and commitment to the Lutheran tradition. Key Responsibilities: Organ Performance: Serve as the primary organist or pianist for all regular worship services, special services, and other church events as needed. Provide musical accompaniment that enriches the congregational singing and enhances the overall worship atmosphere. Collaboration and Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the Pastor, Worship & Music Committee, church staff, and congregation members regarding music-related matters. Collaborate with other ministries and community organizations for special events and outreach opportunities including but not limited to the annual Musical Concert Series, Lancaster First Friday performances and stand alone concert or performance opportunities. Additional Responsibilities: Organ & Musical Library Maintenance: Prepare an annual report detailing the current condition of the organ(s) and/or piano(s) and specifying the necessary maintenance. Maintain the current musical library and add selections within allowable budgetary constraints. Additional Organ Music Services: Provide organ music for all weddings and funerals held at the church, consulting with wedding couples or families if requested. For these services the organist will receive an additional fee as specified in the church policy. The services of another organist may be used with the permission of the regular organist. Musical Leadership & Planning: Cooperate with the Pastor and the Music & Worship Committee to accomplish planning tasks and provide leadership to the music program. The Church Organist and Choirmaster will be directly responsible to the Senior Pastor and participate with the Music & Worship Committee in developing short and long range plans and annual budget requirements. Continuing Professional Development: Maintain professional competency by practicing, performing, attending continued education opportunities, teaching workshops or seminars, and reading professional journals. 

 

Qualifications: 2  Proficiency in organ performance, with a deep understanding of liturgical music and hymnody.  Strong choral conducting skills and experience leading vocal ensembles.  Demonstrated knowledge of Lutheran theology, liturgical practice, and use of music in worship.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.  Organizational skills and attention to detail for planning and coordinating music for worship services and special events.  Flexibility and adaptability to accommodate the diverse musical preferences and abilities within the congregation.  Commitment to supporting the spiritual growth and worship experience of church members through music ministry.  Bachelor's degree in music, church music, or other related degree with experience will be considered. A Master's degree is preferred.  Previous experience as an organist and choirmaster in a church setting (preferred).   Donegal Presbyterian Church, Mount Joy, PA The Director of Music is a part of the Ecclesiastical Staff of Donegal Church, and will be paid a salary over 12 months of the year, but this is essentially a part-time position, paid a fair hourly wage and provided a flexible schedule. An average of 12 hours per week, to include worship services, choir practices, worship team meetings, personal rehearsal time, music selection, and continuing education. The Director of Music must display dedication to Jesus Christ and joy in leading the congregation to glorify God through music. The ability to work well and clearly communicate with people is essential. Good rehearsal skills and the ability to coach and instruct the choir in specific choral techniques is important.  FPC York Seeks Part-Time Director of Contemporary Music and Worship. FPC is searching for a contemporary director of music and worship. This position would be 25 hours a week approximately, and reports directly to me as the Director of Music. This part-time position includes: preparing contemporary themed music for our developing and evolving third service, working with and preparing our volunteer praise band, networking and growing the band, and the scope of the contemporary service and more. St. John’s (Hains) UCC, Wernersville, PA. We are looking to hire four choir section leaders (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, and Bass) on a part time basis. Our aim is for this group to become the core of our newly developing choir after being absent for over a year. Duties will include a Wednesday night rehearsal and one Sunday morning worship service, both usually run about an hour. Music will mostly be hymns and hymn arrangements. The schedule now will be one Sunday a month for June, July, and August. Then it will most likely be every Sunday starting in September. The church is paying $50 per person per session. St. John Lutheran Church in York is in need of a temporary organist for the 10:00 liturgical service while they look to fill this position with a permanent organist and choir director. They do not wish to fill this position in this COVID environment but need a temporary/substitute organist. Duties would be to play for this service only. Bethany UMC, Red Lion, PA – Organist - Bethany is currently looking for a spiritually mature Christian to play the organ for Sunday morning worship. This includes both 8:00am and 10:30am Traditional Services – the 8:00am Service has been paused for now because of COVID-19. General responsibilities include playing for Sunday Morning Worship as well as Wednesday evening choir practice from 6:30 – 7:30 pm and other special services. The organist is also responsible to select and provide appropriate music for the Prelude, Postlude and Offertory as well as rehearse with any soloists, choral groups or instrumentalists as needed. Salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Desired starting date would be Sept 6, 2020, but that is negotiable as well. Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church (CLC) in Dallastown is seeking an Organist.  General responsibilities include providing organ music for 10:30 AM traditional, special worship services (Christmas and Lent), and participation in worship service planning with the pastors.  CLC's musical equipment includes a beautiful M. P.
